Apply Now for the First Grants by the Teosto Cultural Foundation – Funding for Professional Music Creators for Long-Term Work

04.11.2024

The Teosto Cultural Foundation will open its first application round on Monday, November 4, 2024. This pilot round allows applicants to seek support for artistic work, the promotion of their musical careers, exposure of their creations, and internationalization.

Established in 2024, the Teosto Cultural Foundation’s mission is to promote Finnish creative musical art and improve its operational conditions. The decision to establish the foundation was made at the Teosto member meeting in December 2023, and it receives funding from the Teosto Fund.

This initial application round aims to gain a deeper understanding of the needs within the Finnish music sector, particularly areas not sufficiently addressed by existing funding mechanisms.

The Foundation seeks to significantly enhance the value of Finnish music by elevating established professional creators and strengthening the diversity and international reach of the music sector.

The grants awarded by the Foundation are designed to support these objectives comprehensively. There are no specific restrictions on the form or quality of the activities funded, allowing grants to be awarded to a diverse array of projects that promote the creation of new content, artistic careers, or the exposure of music both nationally and internationally. The support is targeted at professional creators with established careers who engage in sustained and rigorous work in music.

As a newly established foundation, the Teosto Cultural Foundation currently lacks its own application channels or established processes. Therefore, the application systems of Music Finland, the Music Creators’ Fund, and the Sibelius Fund of the Society of Finnish Composers will be utilized for this first round of applications. Grant applications should be directed to these entities and will be processed by the peer review committees of the respective funds, alongside the expert committee of Music Finland. In total, the Teosto Cultural Foundation will award approximately 70 grants.
