Erik Brataas becomes the new CEO of Polaris Hub. He brings in a lot of experience and knowledge from 25 years of work within the music industry and the field of digital distribution.

On the 1st of December, Erik Brataas joins Polaris Hub as CEO. He takes over the position from Linda Collin, who has been working as interim CEO for the past year. Linda Collin will continue in her role as a Licensing Manager.

Polaris Hub is a joint venture created by the Nordic collection societies Koda (DK), Teosto (FIN) and Tono (NO). Polaris Hub acts on behalf of all three organizations when negotiating and entering into agreements with international digital music services. Since the hub was established in 2018, it has among others negotiated Nordic agreements with Meta (Facebook & Instagram) Spotify and YouTube.

Erik Brataas’s mission will be to develop the business further and improve the relationships with the hub’s customers while securing the Nordic composer’s remuneration when digital platforms and services use their music.

“I feel privileged and look very much forward to joining Polaris Hub. My goals with the board are to bring the company to the next level and ensure that the rightsholders get the best possible terms. The cross-territorial collaboration established by Koda, Teosto, and Tono position Polaris Hub as a strong and reliable partner for creators and customers in the Nordic music market. I am humbly thrilled by the opportunities that lie ahead,” says Erik Brataas.

Erik Brataas has worked in the Norwegian music industry for over 25 years. He was CEO of the largest independent music distributor in the Nordics, Phonofile, from 1999 to 2017. Since leaving Phonofile he has been a co-founder of a couple of music industry startups, including the Norwegian music publisher Arctic Rights Management. Since 2021 he has served as the CEO of FONO, the trade association for independent labels in Norway.

“We are delighted to welcome Erik to Polaris Hub. He has great insight into the music industry, and at the same time, he will bring in his experiences from his work in developing and running young organizations. We, therefore, have high expectations that the employment of Erik will help to boost further the growth of the licensing of our repertoire on the digital music services both in Europe and globally,” says Gorm Arildsen, Chair of the board of Polaris Hub.
